The Newest Restaurants in Pico-Robertson

Rockin’ Bites

Almost every Baal Teshuvah (someone who became religious later in life) I know laments there not being more kosher Indian food. Thankfully, there is now kosher pareve Indian food available at Rockin’ Bites, under the supervision of North American Kosher. Their flavorful vegan menu includes authentic dishes such as masala dosa, dahl, tofu tikka masala, and vegetable biryani. If you have a sweet tooth, they even have mango lassi as well, which is an authentic Indian smoothie made with almond milk, mango and a taste of cardamon. Here are a couple of Yelp reviews:

Lauren P: “THE FOOD IS SENSATIONAL! Absolutely delicious! Will absolutely be ordering from them most likely on the weekly. That good!!”

Kosher Madness

Kosher Madness is brought to you by the former chef of Taeem. They are located on La Cienega and Pico and are one of the most unique restaurants in Pico, a fusion restaurant with something for everyone. You can feel comfortable coming here with a group because there are so many options of cuisines. The website refers to them as “A symphony of tastes: fast casual dining meets global inspiration” which could not be more accurate. Their menu includes orange chicken, korean bulgogi, asian style burritos and “TaKos”, ramen, kabob skewers, shawarma, and burgers. Word on the street from a reliable source is that the chef said that the orange chicken is supposed to be a kosher version of Panda Express Orange chicken…and I can attest to the orange chicken and the yaki noodles being a throwback to pre-kosher days. Here is a Yelp review:

Gitai D. “This place is spectacular. The food is unique and delicious and the atmosphere is amazing..so many adventures to take, every dish is its own world…this place is gold, a complete winner.”

Lamalo Cafe

There’s officially no need to schlep all the way to Mensch Bakery anymore just for their delicious pastries; now you can simply go to Lamalo Cafe. You can get them at this new cafe by the same owners of both Mensch Bakery and Munchies. Pico was definitely in need of a nice place to get coffee and pastries with friends complete with plenty of seating and a nice ambience. They have some of the best iced blendeds in Pico. They are still in their soft opening phase with a more limited menu, but their full menu looks great and offers a nice amount of both breakfast and lunch options. Breakfast includes french toast, shakshuka, avocado toast, and croissant sandwiches. Lunch includes a 100 layer lasagna, a sweet kale salad, quiches, and grilled cheese and tomato soup. Here is a Yelp review:

Shalom D. “Great food, great customer service. I love this place and am very impressed with this bakery.”
