Healthy Post-Pesach Food Options in Pico

Pesach is now over, but you may be feeling sluggish after all the eating and drinking during the holiday. If you’re still not up for much cooking, here are some takeout ideas in Pico that are on the lighter side. Of course, these options are great for any time of year, not just after chag!

Fish Grill

Fish Grill has plentiful lighter options including fish tacos or grilled fish plates. Most of their entrees come with two sides that you choose from a variety of options and include both veggies and salads.

Pats Cafe

The still relatively new sister restaurant of Pat’s Steakhouse has several lighter options. A couple delicious tried and true lighter options are the 3-fish tacos plate or toasted veggie sandwich.

Lamalo Cafe

Lamalo Cafe has a variety of brunch items which include a fair amount of nutritious options. You can get salads to go as well as their Lamalo Cafe salad, which is filling and made with great ingredients. Their sunshine b’boker omelet is a nutritious breakfast option; you can add bright colorful veggies to your omelet and have a green salad on the side.

Trattoria Natalie

I still think about Trattoria Natalie’s french onion soup. Combining their soup with the strawberry salad makes a well-rounded meal. If you prefer to stick solely to salad, they also offer a delicious and filling seared tuna nicoise salad.

Holy Grill

Israeli food is a great, easy healthy go to. You can forgo the pita and get a delicious falafel or grilled chicken plate with lots of colorful salatim on the side.

Shanghai Diamond Garden

Chinese food does tend to be heavier, but you can ask for your dishes at Shanghai to be steamed, rather than fried! You can also get tofu, rather than chicken or meat if you are craving a break from meat after having so much over Pesach.

Meshuga 4 Sushi

Sushi is a great way to go for light and fresh fare. You can replace any of the rolls with brown rice or opt for them to be rolled without rice at all. Their Lemon Drop roll is one of my personal favorite rolls to get when I’m in the mood for something light. They also offer a Naruto Low Carb Roll, which is wrapped in cucumber with avocado and a choice of protein.

Pico Cafe

Pico Cafe’s large menu includes several healthier offerings. They have a delicious tuna sub sandwich as well as a few different delicious soups to help you get your veggies in. Their kale and mango salad as well as the quinoa, roasted peppers, and sundried tomato salad both sound amazing.

LA Burger Bar

While Burger Bar is known more for their burgers and wings, they do also have some healthier options. If you want something lighter some ideas you can choose from are the veggie wrap, grilled chicken wrap, and a chicken rice bowl, a newer addition to the menu.

Beverly Hills Bagel Co.

Beverly Hills Bagel Co. is generally a fantastic option for quick and easy breakfast or lunch takeout options. They also offer some more nutritious options for either time of day. They have a ‘make your own salad’ with tons of options for a greens base, vegetables, salad proteins, salad toppings, and dressings. You could go every day of the week and make a completely different salad each day! For breakfast you can enjoy avocado toast or a mediterranean omelet, which comes with Israeli salad.
